Privacy Policy
Under the current Act, NHS England and its relevant representatives are required to consult the LMC on a wide range of topics affecting GPs’ contracts.
The LMC represents the views of the Local GPs to the wider NHS, other public bodies, the media and the public.
We try to make known your concerns and opinions nationally through the General Practitioner Committee (GPC). We can assist in pastoral type of work such as advising and supporting individuals and practices

2) Data Protection Officer contact details
By virtue of our size, the data we hold and the processing we undertake, we do not believe we are required to have a Data Protection Officer.
3) Purpose of the processing
Northumberland Local Medical Committee provides advice and support to GPs and practice managers in the Northumberland area. We are the local representative body for all GPs providing NHS primary medical services in Northumberland as recognised in statute. In addition to our statutory and representative functions the LMC provides advice and pastoral support
4) Legal basis for processing or sharing
The relevant legislation is the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR).
Contractual issues
The legal basis for our processing is usually Article 6(1)(c). This covers the running of the committee, and representation at local, regional and national level on all contractual matters.
- (c) processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject;
- (a) “the data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes”
In such circumstances the collection and holding of such data will comply with the provisions of Article 6(I) and also Article 9(2) specifically:
Article 9(2) (a) explicit consent.
Article 9(2)(d) “processing is carried out in the course of its legitimate activities with appropriate safeguards by a foundation, association or any other not-for-profit body with a political, philosophical, religious or trade union aim and on condition that the processing relates solely to the members or to former members of the body or to persons who have regular contact with it in connection with its purposes and that the personal data are not disclosed outside that body without the consent of the data subjects;”
5) What information do we hold?
In order to run the committee, the following are requested to be provided by individual members;
NAME
REGISTRATION STATUS
PREFERRED CONTACT DETAILS (usually NHS email)
PREFERRED BANK OR OTHER PAYMENT METHOD
In respect of pastoral care the information will vary according to the nature of the case.
6) Your rights
You have the right at any time to access your identifiable data, receive a copy, check the accuracy and, if necessary, correct it.
You can withdraw consent for us to hold the information at any time and it will be deleted, in consideration of relevant legal guidance.
7) Retention period
Most data will be retained until such time as we are notified you have ceased to practice in the area, plus another seven years to comply with retention of records requirements for HMRC tax enquiries. To assist us in assuring this is the case, please ensure you or your practice advise us as soon as you move away. We may retain data for a longer period if you request us to do so for a specific reason. Some data may be archived, for example minutes of meetings, for an indefinite period to preserve the history of the LMC.
